Event

Fire safety involves many disciplines from detection, alarming, evacuation and extinguishing to danger and
building management. The goals of fire safety are to prevent loss of life, property damage, and downtime in
use of a building. Fires often cause disruption of business activities, loss of business documents, loss of
employee work hours, and can also mean the termination of jobs, as many of the offices, buildings and
factories destroyed by fire are never rebuilt. One of the key strategies to maintaining a fire safe workplace
and preventing fires is by having an effective fire safety in the workplaces
This course is designed to provide participants with comprehensive knowledge and skills of the fire safety and
prevention associated with workplace fires, including the prevention, detection and suppression of fire.
Specific topics to include the fire relevant laws, chemistry and physics of fire, fire protection building, plant
renovation fire safety, fire prevention, inspections, fir detection and suppression equipment, fire safety
plans, evacuation procedures, evacuation time, means of escape, travel time, high rise building evacuation,
and other information related to life safety and property protection from fire.

At the end of the program, participant will be able to gain in depth knowledge of concepts of fire safety and its
protection system controls at workplace

  • recognise the causes associated with fire and the reasons why fire starts
  • know what measures can be taken by to reduce the risk of fire and fire spread
  • gain awareness of fire procedures and what action must be taken in the event of a fire
  • understand the fire control measures
What the employer must implement and how these should be maintained
  • understand the principles of means of escape (egress) from fires and apply them
  • able to describe the features, installation, use, maintenance and operations of extinguishing media and assess
which types of extinguishing media would be appropriate in different situations
